🌾 “낮아짐의 길에서 만난 복음”

그날, 나는 늘 가던 카페에 앉아 있었다. 창가 자리에 앉으면 바깥세상이 좀 더 선명하게 보인다. 스쳐 지나가는 사람들, 각기 다른 옷차림, 다른 표정, 다른 삶. 문득 떠오른 질문 하나.

“나는 저 사람들에게 복음을 전할 수 있을까?”

마음 한 구석에서 어색한 웃음이 새어 나왔다. 나는 종종 복음을 ‘전하려는 자’로서 서 있었지만, 그들의 삶 안으로 들어가려 했던 적은 얼마나 있었을까?

그때 떠오른 말씀이 있다.

"약한 자들에게 내가 약한 자와 같이 된 것은 약한 자들을 얻고자 함이요…" (고전 9:22)

바울은 자신을 낮췄다. 자기를 내려두었다. 약한 자의 눈높이에 섰고, 그들의 언어와 상처와 삶을 이해하려 애썼다. 그리고 그 모든 것은 ‘단 한 사람이라도 구원하기 위함’이었다.

나는 그 자리에 앉아 바울의 마음을 묵상했다. 그는 율법을 지킨 자로서 율법 없는 자와도 함께했고, 가진 자와 가난한 자 사이를 오갔다. 자신이 가진 신분, 학식, 권리를 잠시 내려놓고 그 사람의 세계로 들어갔다. 복음은 그가 입은 말보다, 그가 보여준 삶 속에서 드러났던 것이다.

🌿 지금 내 삶에서

나는 요즘 누구의 삶을 외면하고 있을까. 나와 가치관이 너무 달라 거리 두고 있던 그 사람. 늘 방어적으로 말하는 친구, 삶이 엉켜버린 것 같은 이웃. 나는 그들에게 다가가려고 했던가. 오히려 내 생각을 지키려 애쓰다, 그들과의 거리를 벌리고 있었던 건 아닐까.

복음을 전하는 데 필요한 첫 걸음은 ‘내려놓음’이었다. 자존심, 내 입장, 내가 옳다고 믿는 방식. 바울처럼 나도 그들과 같은 자리에서 걸어야 한다.

✨ 묵상 질문

오늘 나는 누구에게 “약한 자처럼” 되어야 할까?

말보다 삶으로 복음을 보여주려면, 나는 무엇을 바꿔야 할까?

복음을 위해 포기할 수 있는 ‘나의 것’은 어떤 모습일까?

내가 사랑하는 것보다, 이해하려는 마음이 더 앞서고 있는가?

📌 작은 실천

그날, 나는 다시 커피 한 잔을 마셨다. 그리고 옆에 앉아 있던 낯선 사람에게 가볍게 인사했다.

"안녕하세요. 자주 오시나 봐요."

짧은 말 한 마디였지만, 그 순간 내 마음은 바울처럼 조금 더 가까이 걷기 시작했다.

🙏 기도

하나님, 제가 바울처럼 사람들의 삶에 들어갈 수 있는 마음을 주옵소서. 약한 자와 같이 될 수 있는 용기와 지혜를 허락하셔서, 단 한 사람이라도 복음을 통해 주님을 만나게 하소서. 제 삶이 말보다 강한 복음의 통로 되게 하시고, 오늘도 복음에 참여하는 기쁨을 누리게 하소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

🌿 "The Gospel Found on the Path of Humility"

That day, I sat in my usual café. By the window, the outside world seemed clearer—people passing by, each with different clothes, expressions, and lives. A sudden question arose:

"Could I share the Gospel with them?"

An awkward laugh escaped me. Often, I stood as someone trying to preach, but how often had I truly stepped into their lives?

Then, a verse came to mind:

"I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some." (1 Corinthians 9:22)

Paul lowered himself. He stepped into the shoes of the weak, learned their language, and bore their wounds—all to save even one.

As I sat there, I pondered Paul’s heart:

• He dined with the lawless as one of them.

• He bridged the gap between rich and poor.

• He laid down his rights, education, and pride.
  The Gospel shone not in his words but in his posture of love.

🌿 For My Life Today
Who have I been avoiding? The friend whose views clash with mine, the neighbor whose life seems messy. Have I drawn near—or guarded my comfort?

The first step in sharing the Gospel isn’t speaking—it’s kneeling. Letting go of pride, being "weak" to love the weak. Like Paul, I must walk beside them.

1. Who needs me to meet them where they are today?

2. What must change in me to live the Gospel before speaking it?

3. What "rights" can I surrender for love’s sake?

4. Is my heart leaning toward understanding more than being understood?

📌 Small Step
That day, I took a sip of coffee and smiled at the stranger beside me:
"Hi. Do you come here often?"
A tiny gesture—but in that moment, like Paul, I began walking closer.

🙏 Prayer
God, give me Paul’s heart—to enter others’ lives with humility. Grant me courage to become "weak" for the weak, so even one might meet You through the Gospel. Let my life preach louder than my words. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
